These cedar waxwings are cavorting about in their natural environment, making this primarily a wildlife painting. But it seems fitting to include it as part of an imaginative series as well. Not only does it have an illustrative and somewhat fanciful sensibility to it, but it was executed in the same style as many of my fantasy line drawings.

Cedar waxwings are remarkable birds, visually stunning with their crisp lines and satiny neatness. Trying to do these creatures some measure of justice using an economy of strokes was one of the objectives in executing this piece.
