Virtual Art Festival
During this strange time when people are trying to be socially distanced without being anti-social, there’ve been some interesting workarounds popping up in just about every area of life. The Carnegie Art Center, located in North Tonawanda, NY, is temporarily closed due to the COVID pandemic, but they’re still active in the arts community.
The Center got the idea of opening a “virtual” art festival online, since there won’t be the usual abundance of outdoor exhibitions this year. Running an online alternative is a great idea for both artists and art enthusiasts.
Below is my painting to be included in the festival. It’s an acrylic work inspired by time spent in the mountains and my love of seeing red foxes in the wild. To me it also has an air of Aesop’s fables about it.

The festival runs from July 1 – July 31, 2020 and is slated to feature over 130 artists from the United States and beyond. Each artist will have a sample image featured at the Carnegie Art Center’s website. Links to individual artists’ websites will also be included so viewers can easily go to the sites and see more work. If folks want to purchase a piece, they can simply contact the artist and make the transaction.
It’s an exciting opportunity for artists to display their talents during a time when traditional exhibitions are few and far between. I’m looking forward to seeing the creativity that’ll be on view. Subjects, styles, and media will vary. Painting, photography, and three-dimensional art will be included.
