Upon the Sea – Polymer Clay – 17.5”x 11.5” x 8.25″*
In the sculpture Upon the Sea, I’m addressing what the Apostle Peter was doing immediately before his near-drowning incident. In Matthew, Chapter 14, we read of the Savior walking on the Sea of Galilee, and then beckoning Peter to come and do the same. With his exuberant and childlike faith, Peter responded by stepping out of his boat and striding towards Jesus upon the stormy sea. It was a miracle. Peter was literally walking on water like Jesus. Imagine the exhilaration, the sheer thrill of it! With eyes riveted on the Master, Peter was defying the known laws of nature itself.
