Updates on Current BNAC Art Exhibition

The exhibition, A Natural Style – The Artistic Realism of Dean Vigyikan, continues at the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center through the remainder of June.  The show has received a wonderful response from those who’ve visited.  With about 55 paintings and 10 sculptures on display, there are many points of interest for just about everyone.

Vigyikan Exhibit in Fitting Venue

The opening reception on Friday evening, June 7th, allowed visitors to the Burchfield NAC Gallery to experience Dean Vigyikan paintings and sculptures in a picture-perfect setting.

Viewers enjoyed Vigyikan’s nature-oriented fantasy impressions captured in life-like beauty. Water Skimmers, a bronze sculpture of three woodland nymphs, perfectly proportioned, can be imagined to be floating along the Buffalo Creek behind the Nature and Art Center.  Other sculpted figures, such as the enigmatically named Liahona (reminiscent of an Old Testament patriarch in grandeur) and Ascension, an Olympian sprinter, represent the artist’s superb craftsmanship in delineating the human form, whether in bronze or resin.

The pictures include a varied display of subjects:  lovely models in repose, fairies with gossamer wings, dignified animals in their natural habitat, the thrills of rodeo competition, and majestic landscapes, all rendered in rich colors to dazzle and please the eye.

Exquisite paintings of wildlife include an impression of two curious foxes (Summer Days); a handsome portrait of two wolves (Los Lobos); and a lone crow, set against a background of blue sky and clouds (Watcher of the Skies).  Other zoological specimens include bison, birds and big cats, with the fur delineated so finely one can almost feel it (if such was allowed!). All these wildlife subjects complement wonderfully the BNAC park setting.

The diverse array of delightful fantasy, nature and realistic subjects in oil, acrylic, bronze, resin and graphite add to the overall charm of the first gallery show of the summer.

The fanciful realism of Dean Vigyikan will be on exhibit through Sunday, June 30. Gallery hours are M-F, 10am-4pm, Sundays 1-4pm.
