If these dogs look familiar, it may be because they all show up in another drawing, Forever Friends, which features the same pooches in a somewhat different arrangement. A couple of the haircuts are a little different too. In many of my animal portrait drawings, I like to leave the background white to emphasize the animals’ features. However, with group portraits like this one, darkening the background can sometimes help the viewer focus on the individual subjects while enhancing the overall composition.
