This sculpture is of the prophet Lehi, who lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C., at the time of Jeremiah. Lehi was a righteous man, and God commanded him to take his family and flee Jerusalem, as the city was about to be destroyed by the Babylonians. Lehi and his family obeyed and were led to the ancient American continent, where they took up a new life and formed a great civilization. At one time during his journey, Lehi awoke to find a unique ball-shaped object outside his tent. This instrument had been prepared by God, and functioned like a compass to lead Lehi and his family through the wilderness and across the ocean to their new home.
