Dancers are wonderful subjects to paint, as much for their elegant attire as for their personal poise and presence.  Translucent layers of oil paint combine to create this dancer’s costume, culminating in a crescendo of thick impasto at the highlight on her left hip.  This dancer’s portrait was a joy to paint – a rhapsody of harmonious textures.
