Drawing people with only certain portions of the subjects showing can provide both artistic challenges and wonderful compositional opportunities. In this drawing of Joseph and Mary with the Christ child, I enjoyed creating the pyramidal structure of the four hands supporting the tiny baby and emphasizing His peaceful glowing face. The folds of the blanket and garments help to set the scene and further unify the image.
