Many people who’ve seen this painting on display have asked how I know the lady or even felt a personal acquaintance her.  Sometimes in my figurative oils, I deliberately alter the features of the sitter to better convey a certain mood.  That being the case in this painting, it’s quite gratifying that viewers are able to feel such a direct connection.
