It’s often said that art is as much about what’s left out of a piece as what’s included. In this oil painting of cattle roping, I felt strongly impressed to keep the details of the horse to a minimum, avoiding the temptation to “over render”. It is the action, much more than the details, which becomes the subject of this western painting.
