The humorous idea of raising a giant baby is what I like about the visual storyline in this artwork. Trying to heighten a sense of volume in featured objects like the dragon’s bulging muscles and the deeply textured pathway, I incorporated numerous passages of pure black, in contrast with delicately detailed nuances such as individual wing feathers. I think some of the stylings in this design hearken back to my long-standing interest in the paintings of Maxfield Parrish.
