The elephant painting was an absolute joy to create. It was a delight exploring the textures of the animal’s skin and tusks as well as the subtile expression in the eyes. I enjoy painting all wildlife subject matter, and there’s just something extra special about exploring exotic species from other lands than my native country. I try to give them an air of convincing realism, establishing a kind of kinship between the creature in the scene and the viewer.
