I feel that some of the most engaging sculpture is that which demonstrates the feverish intensity of the creative process.  It requires discipline for a sculptor to refrain from always bringing to bear a meticulous finish on his work.  In this example, the results of such self discipline imply a certain muscular life and tension operating within and beneath the external evidence of the artist’s own activity with the clay.
