In a number of wildlife paintings, I’ve chosen to indulge in a somewhat minimalistic approach, excluding any overt description of background or environment.  This wolf painting is an example of such an idea.  It’s a painting about the wolves’ texture, their expressions and social mentality. The loosely repeating colors and markings of the two animals are a subtle reminder of the order and structure within wolf pack society as a whole.
