This painting is available for purchase. Please contact Dean to inquire.

Indigenous to Madagascar, ring-tailed lemurs are primates, yet their coloration is reminiscent of raccoons. Their limber agility and strong social bonds make them fascinating creatures to observe. This lemur painting is a careful depiction of the form, features, and patterns unique to the species. On a different occasion, I had the chance to create another lemur illustration but using scratchboard instead of paint. Scratchboard and oil paint are two very different media. However, in both cases I relished the chance to study and render the thick, layered textures of the animal’s coat.
