Larka and Dylan –  Oil on Canvas Panel – 24”x 18”  SOLD

The nuances in expression, personality and markings of our canine friends make dogs unique as individuals just as do our physical and personality traits as humans.  That’s what’s so great about animal portraiture, or any kind of portraiture for that matter.  With brush or clay, the artist gets to search out and portray, not just a telling example of a particular species or breed, but the very subtleties of a beloved individual family member.  These two companions, a Bernese Mountain Dog and Pembroke Welsh Corgi, have been painted with special attention to color, value, texture and expression to allow their fun loving and playful characters to shine through.  The painting was also carefully composed in an effort to create a visually well balanced double portrait.
