“Just Buffaloes” New Gallery Show
What an appropriate way to kick off the new year, especially in Buffalo, NY. River Gallery and Gifts is hosting a unique exhibition of fine art called “Just Buffaloes” in the beautiful canal area of North Tonawanda, NY. The focus of the show is, well… just buffaloes! This isn’t an emphasis on the city of Buffalo per se, or on the wild west, or on prairie landscapes. No, this show is all about the animal itself. If you check it out, you’ll see what I mean.

Buffaloes are represented in a myriad of ways throughout the venue. As viewers walk through the gallery, they’ll see impressive beasts in an array of technicolor attire. Whimsical, stylized, multicolored, graphical and realistic bison are all represented. The show easily fills the two-room gallery space with pieces of all shapes and sizes. Numerous media are featured as well including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor and much more. I’ve never seen, let alone participated in, a show with this theme before.
The opening reception this past Saturday was bustling with artists and visitors. The reception had been postponed from its original date of January 19th due to severe weather warnings. Being in Buffalo, NY and all, there was plenty of snow even for the “rain date,” but people seemed eager to escape for a fun night out. It’s nice that the exhibit received some TV news coverage as well, prior to opening.
Two of my buffalo paintings are included in this exhibition, one of which received the first place award in the competition. I hope you’ll come see the artwork in person.
Show dates are January 19th through February 16, 2019. River Gallery and Gifts is located at 83 Webster St., North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Check for hours before coming in. But please come if you can, and enjoy this unique exhibit!
