The lighting directed upon the lady featured in this figure drawing allowed me to create a visual essay on form and surface anatomy.  While the variety in dimensional qualities (comparing the flat lighting of her left arm with the chiseled structure of the knee joints) creates intriguing formal elements to the drawing, her ambiguous facial expression creates a level of mystery open to subjective interpretation.
