Father of the Pride – Acrylic on Panel – 16″ x 20″

The focus of this painting is of course the large male lion in the foreground. I also found that including a lioness in the background helps balance the composition while implying the presence of “the pride” of which this big daddy is the father! Female lions are typically the hunters in the clan, so it figures that she’s on the prowl while he hangs out waiting for dinner!
