Architecture and landscape together can make some of the most dramatic and evocative paintings. I enjoyed many small miracles when painting and preparing to paint this Latter Day Saint temple in Palmyra, NY. Arriving at just the right time of day to catch the setting sun against the clouds and snow played a huge role in creating the atmosphere and glow that characterize this piece. I also particularly enjoyed the sun’s reflections in the windows to the right, and the analogous glow from within, evident in the windows on the adjacent side of the building.
