Art Club Sculpture Demonstration

On the heels of the fun and excitement of the recent sculpture demonstration at the East Aurora Art Society, it’s my pleasure to announce my next sculpture demo coming up on November 6, 2012.  That’s election day folks, so get out and vote then come on over for an entertaining evening!  This lecture and live art demonstration will be held at the Alden Art Club’s next monthly meeting.  The enthusiasm over the material discussed in last month’s program at East Aurora was such that I was immediately asked to make a similar presentation in Alden.  Look for the press release about this event expected in the November 1 edition of the Alden Advertiser newspaper.

Topics discussed in this presentation will likely range from basic clay sculpture tools and materials to an overview of the bronze casting process.  The main segment of the program will comprise a live demonstration of the initial stages of sculpting a human head in clay.  I also plan to discuss similarities and differences in the creation of two and three dimensional artwork.  These topics can be very beneficial for painters and other 2D artists as well as sculptors.  Of course comments and questions are welcome throughout the presentation.  One thing people seemed to enjoy at my last presentation was that I’m comfortable talking openly about concepts and artistic technique while in the process of sculpting the piece itself.

The event will be held on Tuesday, November 6 at the Alden Community Center, 13116 Main St., Alden, NY 14004.  The meeting starts at 7:00 PM, with the art demo getting underway about 7:30 PM.  The public is welcome to attend free of charge.  Hope to see you there!
