An Art Exhibit with Impact!

Last night was the opening reception for Impact Artists Gallery Invitational Exhibition in Buffalo, NY.  Featured was a very eclectic mix of styles and techniques, media and subject matter.  There was a fairly strong emphasis on the human figure in many of the paintings featured, sometimes stylized and often more traditional in approach.  It was great as always mingling with artists and other visitors and discussing the relationships perceived between some of the pieces present and works by historical figures of times past.  We found apt comparison with artists such as Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, and Robert Henri.  Like I say, a true variety represented!  Makes for an evening of fun and enlightenment…and snacks of course – great bread and dip!

My contribution to the exhibit includes the two sculptures Water Skimmers and Repose (pictured above).  Also featured is the oil painting Red Dancer.  Interestingly, the gallery is run by female artists and generally maintains a strong, if not exclusive, bent towards representing women artists.  However, and happily for artists like myself, they regularly hold open exhibitions like this invitational where male artists are also welcome.

The exhibit will remain on display until September 30th.  A great time to pay a visit is on September 23rd which is “4th Friday” when many of the galleries and studios adjacent to Impact Artists Gallery will also be open from 4:00-8:00PM.  So even more art to see that night!  The gallery is located on the 5th floor of the Tri Main Building, suite 545 located at 2495 Main St. in Buffalo, NY.
