This dynamic oil painting, depicting a contest of man and bull, presents a picture of drama and excitement. I believe much of the inspiration for the scene stems from one of my favorite paintings El Jaleo, by John Singer Sargent, where another subject, in this case a dancer, twists and twirls across the foreground before a gallery of onlookers.
