ACEO’s – World’s Tiniest Paintings?
Wellll… maybe not quite, but certainly among the tiniest! Ha! These little jobs are just so cute I can’t get over it. Imagine a painting 2.5″ x 3.3″ and they’re all the rage with many collectors. A few weeks ago I posted an article about some of my latest fantasy-related paintings which I’ve been selling on eBay. Then I started talking about these ACEO’s (Art Cards Editions and Originals). The idea is a relatively new art movement in which the only single commonality is those unique measurements of 2.5″ x 3.5″. Other than having those diminutive dimensions, the artwork can be in any medium: collage, photography, painting, drawing, print, etching, you name it! Subject matter also is across the map.

“Summer Centaur” Acrylic & Ink ACEO Painting by Dean Vigyikan
As the name ACEO suggests, these tiny ATC’s (Art Trading Cards, as they’re sometimes called) can be art reproductions in the form of editions such as prints or original artworks in their own right. Since discovering its existence and charm, I’ve been producing a number of paintings in this miniature format. So far all these new ACEO paintings are part of my fantasy series with which I’ve been working recently. Stylistically, many of them employ the ink line technique pictured above with color applied using washes of acrylic paint. In addition to this light and airy approach, I’ve also been working some of them in a more opaque style, sometimes with considerable amounts of detail.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download
With the right pen or brush and ample patience, it’s amazing the degree of detail that can be achieved within one of these tiny formats. I’ve also found myself imagining some of my small pieces enlarged to greater dimensions and possibly rendered in oils or opaque acrylic paint. It’s a thought anyway. Part of the fun of creating miniature paintings is the relative speed with which one of them can be completed. The cycle of “new idea – new painting!” can be put into hyperdrive creating these small works, the result being an exhilarating current of creative output.
