Torn ACL –  Acrylic & Digital

Many athletes are all too familiar with torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. The damage shown in this artwork also involves a broken fibula and torn lateral collateral ligament. While the clinical conditions on display may be unpleasant, medical illustrations themselves can be attractive and even beautiful. The curves, textures, and lighting in this illustration provide sculptural interest, while selectively conveying pertinent information.
