Tibial Plateau –  Acrylic on Illustration Board

Shown here is a depressed tibial plateau from an auto accident knee injury. The displaced cartilage is indicated in blue for emphasis, though the color is not natural. The femur is painted with a transparent effect to show more of the injury than would otherwise be visible. Illustrations such as this are useful as exhibits in courtroom trials involving accident victims. In these and other cases, juries must make decisions based on a degree of medical understanding.
