Pulmonary Embolism – Acrylic and Digital
When I was commissioned to illustrate an embolus caught in the lung, I knew the client was familiar with some of my creative renditions of medical subjects. So, in the spirit of depicting anatomy as a landscape, I chose to include the heart and aorta in the background, almost like a distant vista rising into view beyond a rolling hill. Adding to the conceptual nature of this piece is the way in which we can peer through the lung’s surface to perceive what’s occurring beneath.
