Red Rock Race – Digital Painting

In creating this piece I was influenced by considerable time spent exploring the red rocks of Utah. There weren’t any theropods running amidst those rocks when I was there, but their presence isn’t hard to imagine in such a wild landscape.

Illustrators render futuristic vehicles in all manner of shapes and styles. Desert cruisers could be conceived as sleek jet-propelled aircraft. For this race scene I wanted to depict the similarities and contrasts of of two-legged vehicles vs. two-legged dinosaurs.
