Exploratory spacecraft enter the atmosphere of an alien world, but are met with an unexpected ambush from unwelcoming denizens of the sky. Creating this artwork was quite satisfying in many respects. Combining the overall warm palette with passages of blue and gray was an exercise in chromatic balance. Overlapping diagonals and ships pitching at various angles help create a dynamic composition, and invite the eye to keep moving throughout the scene.
