Enjoying the company of a super-sized robot instills a measure of confidence, even in a potentially dangerous back alley. Creating mood and atmosphere in a painting is particularly important when illustrating a story or trying to establish a feeling of time and place. Here, the setting is urban, futuristic, and in the dead of night. The mechanical anatomy of the robot was interesting to create, as were the various artificial light sources illuminating a variety of surfaces throughout the scene.
