Fine Arts League Fall Exhibition
The November 2019 members exhibition of the Buffalo Fine Arts League had its opening reception on Nov. 2nd, to the delight of attendees. The spacious venue at the Artspace Buffalo Gallery made for comfortable viewing as observers got to step back and take in the pieces from a distance or admire the details up close. And details there were indeed!

The Buffalo Fine Arts League is a juried society of realist artists working in a variety of media including watercolor, oils, acrylic, pastel and more. I’ve been privileged to be a member for the past few years and have never failed to be duly impressed by the quality of work displayed in these member shows.
As much as I love and understand the prevalence of two-dimensional work the society produces, I do find myself feeling a little artistically “lonely” sometimes when I happen to be the only one who enters a sculpture in an exhibition like this. Well, that was the case here again. I say all this with a smile, realizing that 3D work is relatively atypical across the spectrum of artists as a whole, and that’s ok.
I did enter one of my recent plain air landscape paintings entitled Old Pines. The sculpture I submitted was of the Apostle Peter walking on water, which turned out to be quite a conversation piece. I’m honored that the sculpture was granted one of the two Special Awards presented during the reception.
The Artspace Buffalo Gallery is located at 1219 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14209.
