A sculpture of a male lion is shown here, with its title stemming from a child’s imitation of a lion’s roar, “rah!” The word “roi” (roughly pronounced “rah”) is also French for “king,” so it seems fitting.  In my depiction of this king of the beasts, I was influenced by baroque sculpture in the exaggeration of the forms within the mane and facial features. The lion sculpture was cast in resin and painted with a bronze-like metallic finish.
