Lemur Drawing –  Scratchboard

Scratchboard is the process of adding ink to a coated drawing surface, and then scratching away the ink in certain places to reveal the white beneath. I’ve seldom used scratchboard as a medium. But when it came to this ring tailed lemur, I found myself absorbed in the delicate patterns and striking contrasts found in the creature’s fur. The area beneath the branch was designed for descriptive text about this handsome primate.
