Like people, each individual dog is unique in features and personality. While particular breeds do, of course, exhibit familiar markings incident to that breed, those of us who’ve owned dogs know that none other is quite like our very own. Seeing that unique personality come through is part of what makes pet portraiture (or any portraiture for that matter) such a satisfying challenge for the artist, and such a delightful result for the viewer. I’m so glad to have had the chance to meet Thor, and to draw an animal as singular as his name is perfect for a Norwegian elkhound.
