Uncle Sam –  Acrylic on Panel – 20”x 16”  SOLD

Just in time for Independence Day, this portrait painting was completed depicting a gentleman whose close resemblance to the American icon fit perfectly with the famous garb of Uncle Sam in the legendary “I want You” poster, used for Army recruiting in WWI and again in WWII. The result was a fitting tribute to this real-life patriot. One of the great joys of portrait art is capturing both the likeness and a sense of the soul of the subject. I love painting with loose brushstrokes, and the technique used in the famous poster was excellent inspiration in creating this artwork.
