Birthday Card Illustration –  Adobe Illustrator

Greeting cards provide the chance for an illustrator to loosen up and have fun with playful lines, characters and scenarios.  The kind of free flowing “brushwork” and childlike coloration that went into this kitty cat cartoon remind me that such artistic abandon can go a long way even in more formal fine art endeavors, like painting, when it comes to expressing mood and action.  In the world of illustration, the way media is used to express a subject is often just as important as the subject itself.  In creating greeting cards, along with taking artistic license, I also enjoy the poetic license that often comes along with it!
