Standing Woman – Fired Clay – 15.5” tall*
This sculpture is available for purchase. Please contact Dean to inquire.
This figurative sculpture is analogous to the drawings First Light and Illumination wherein the young woman is gently turning towards something representing an undefined hope. In the case of this sculpture, her optimism is more emphatic than in the other examples. Both in her posture and her literal emergence from the earthen base still encasing her ankles make this artwork a representation of strength and hope. The sculpting technique employed here was visceral and spontaneous with the original daubs of clay still remaining where they were first placed. The piece is therefore a representation of both the figurative symbol described and the movements of the artist himself, frozen in time.
