Beneath the Pines – Acrylic on Panel – 11”x14”
This painting is available for purchase. Please contact Dean to inquire.
This rabbit species is spread across vast areas of North America, and extends into Central and South America as well. They’re hardy creatures which typically rely on flight rather than fight to survive. While painting this wildlife image, it was important to focus on accurately rendering details of the rabbit’s fur, as well as the wary expression in its eye. A favorite meal to many a predator, cottontails sometimes remain very still to avoid detection, waiting until danger is just too close for comfort before bolting for safety. This picture also allowed me to explore some interesting patterns of snow adhering to pine boughs.
