100 Dog Head Portraits!
We’ve all heard of 101 Dalmatians. For me, the magic number was actually 100, only one of which was a dalmatian. Yes, recently I completed a commission of 100 distinct dog breed portraits for a client. Very interesting project indeed! They’re being printed on t-shirts so dog enthusiasts can wear their very own favorite breed. The paintings were commissioned in black and white and rendered in Photoshop.

As most who know me and my artwork will acknowledge, I’m happy to take on pretty much any art project involving animals or figurative work of any kind, so this project was a lot of fun. After spending lots of time studying the different breeds, I now like to fancy myself an amateur “dog expert”, playing “name that dog” when I’m out in public places where people have their pets on hand (or “in hand” as the case may be). I have no idea as to my accuracy rating, so I like to think I’m doing a fine job!
One might think that I’m now burned out on dogs for life, but not so! Shortly after drawing all these dogs I also completed Los Lobos, an acrylic painting of two wolves together. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like to discuss getting a pooch portrait painting of your own best friend, or any of your favorite pets for that matter. After all, I’ve had plenty of practice!
